Many struggle with the timing of feedback in the workplace.

How often is too often? Or what about not often enough?

SAP SuccessFactors ran a survey to find out.

It turns out that the answer differs based on the age demographic of workers. Specifically, Millennials and Non-Millennials prefer feedback at different frequency intervals.

Here are the desired frequency intervals for both categories:

Preferred Frequency of Feedback for Non-Millennials

  • Annually: 16%

  • Quarterly: 42%

  • Monthly: 40%

  • Weekly: 10%

  • Daily: 0%

Preferred Frequency of Feedback for Millennials

  • Annually: 4%

  • Quarterly: 30%

  • Monthly: 50%

  • Weekly: 17%

  • Daily: 1%

The results show that younger employees from the Millennial generation prefer to receive feedback on a more regular basis. 50% wanted to get feedback monthly, and more millennials were open to getting weekly feedback.

This aligns with trends that have seen companies moving towards more of a continuous feedback model.
