Performance management and review is a staple of work culture at many companies.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of 360º feedback, this is a review process in which a person receives feedback from “all sides” or multiple sources. These sources are people the individual works with in different capacities, such as a manager or peer co-workers.
If you are required to complete a 360º review, you might have to personally reach out to the people you would like to rate your performance and provide feedback.
The thought of explaining a 360º review or getting people to agree to participate may seem intimidating at first.
Not to worry!
Follow our guide below and use one of our email templates to ask for 360º feedback quickly and easily.
How to ask for 360º feedback
Step 1: Identify who you should ask. Typically, you will want to have 5-10 people provide feedback. These should be people who interact with you from many angles, such as superiors, subordinates, peers and clients.
Step 2: Tailor your email to the recipient. Use the appropriate level of formality based on your relationship to the person.
Step 3: Tell them why their opinion matters and how their response will help you.
Step 4: Give instructions on how to participate as well as a deadline.
Step 5: Wait at least 3 days before sending a follow-up email if they do not respond. When they complete the survey, thank them for taking the time to submit feedback.
